Mississippi Registered Nurse (RN)

Currently no CEU's required.
RNs will be required to comply with Continuing Education requirements for the renewal, endorsement, or reinstatement applications if the nurse has been out of practice for greater than five (5) years. The RN shall complete a minimum of twenty (20) contact hours of accepted continuing education earned in the previous 2-year period immediately prior to such application toward satisfying the requirement.

Mississippi Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

APRNs shall earn five (5) contact hours of continuing education every two (2) years directly related to controlled substances per State Certification Period for licensure renewal.
Special Requirements
- Complete a minimum of five (5) contact hours of continuing education directly related to controlled substances per State Certification Period. This requirement applies to all APRNs, irrespective of controlled substance prescriptive authority.
- APRNs must be currently licensed as a RN in Mississippi or currently licensed to practice as registered nurse under the Nurse Licensure Compact with a multistate licensure privilege to practice in Mississippi.

Special Requirements

Mississippi Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

To be eligible for continued enrollment on the Mississippi Nurse Aide Registry, you are required to work as a nurse aide for at least one documented day (eight consecutive hours) for pay in an approved facility during the previous twenty-four (24) months. Please print and complete the paper Renewal Application, have your employer complete and sign Sections III and IV, and upload the completed form into CNA365 along with your CNA365 Renewal Application.
Continuing education is not required for renewal. Please check with your facility/employer to ensure your continuing education courses are accepted.
