Northern Mariana Islands Continuing Education Requirements

All RNs are required to complete at least 30 nursing-related contact hours every two years, including at least one (1) contact hour on Substance Use Disorder (SUD).
Renewal applications are submitted online through the NMI Nurse Portal. CE certificates and the Board CE form must be uploaded with the renewal.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD): Of the 30 required contact hours, at least one (1) contact hour must be on Substance Use Disorder. Accepted SUD topics include recognizing impairment in the workplace, substance use/addiction, opioids/pain management, drug diversion, and prescribing controlled substances.
CE providers from nursing board jurisdictions and accredited sources are accepted. Board-listed online SUD CE providers include CEUFast, ANA, NursingCE, NurseCE4Less, NetCE, and Relias.
Renewals are due 30 days prior to license expiration.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must complete at least 30 contact hours every two years, including one (1) contact hour on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and five (5) contact hours of Pharmacology. A current APRN national certification/recertification is also required for renewal.
